Could TIDAL Change The Music Industry Forever With NFT’s?

If you’ve been following news on NFT’s over the past week or so you’ve probably seen that Jack Dorsey’s first tweet in NFT form is being auctioned off for over $2.5 Million. It’s historic and it’s also Jack Dorsey’s first public backing of Ethereum for the world to see. We know he loves Bitcoin, We know he loves Crypto based off of his investments, and now we’re seeing his venture into NFT’s and Ether.

Also in Recent news was Square’s purchase of Tidal. Jack Dorsey was quoted saying the following about the cash-and-stock deal:

“We’ll work on entirely new listening experiences to bring fans closer together, simple integrations for merch sales, modern collaboration tools, and new complementary revenue streams.”

For me, Tidal was the Artist’s Streaming platform. It seemed to let the artist showcase their creativity offering more control on video drops, album drops, and an exclusivity that other platforms didn’t offer. Tidal boasts an insane collection of music headlined by Beyonce & Jay and until the recent purchase Tidal was partially owned by none other than Jay-Z

That brings me to the title of this post. To me, Jay-Z is one of the Top 2 greatest Musicians to Business Mogul transformations in Music .. and he’s not 2. He does it all and surrounds himself with brilliant people to help him accomplish whatever he sets his mind too.

The truth is though that Jay-Z hasn’t met his goal with Tidal yet, and I don’t believe he or the team at Tidal would make this move if it didn’t align with their vision.

I think Jack Dorsey and Square brought an idea to the table that will take Tidal where Jay-Z wants it to go.

The Sale of Tidal isn’t the first business dealings between Jack and Jay-Z either. To give an example, back in early February they both teamed up to create the “Btrust” Endowment to fund Bitcoin development primarily focused in Africa and India.

So now back to Jack’s quote. Could the modern tools Jack Mentioned be NFT’s? We know how streaming platforms like Tidal affected the music industry when they first emerged. They changed the game and allowed so many more artists to be heard.

Now we’re seeing similar things in that Digital Artists are able to share their art with the entire world via exchanges. The difference is that NFT’s allow them to make money in the process.

Tidal could be about to upset the music industry once again. This time using once-in-a-generation technology to give even more power back to the Musician. We already know how important the topic of ownership is to Jay-Z so truly it makes too much sense.
